In 1928, Captain Umberto Nobile, took off on board of the airship Italia from what now is Stadera suburb in Milan and reached the North Pole, shipwrecking on its pack.
The suburb, in order to pay homage to his endeavour, took up the name of King’s Bay.
No one could ever have imagined that the heroic gesture of the Red Tent’s inhabitants – nine survivors who occupied for 49 days the frozen land inside of a tent – would have become a routine amongst the walls of this neighbourhood.
A Babel of cuisines and tongues in which everyone still understands each other.
Artists, boxers, political refugees, labourers, ex-convicts and retirees, but also families.
